We provide clinics for:
The Midwife (who works alongside the practice) gives advice on all aspects of your pregnancy and visits mothers and babies after the baby is born.
The Specialist Public Health Practitioner (formerly known as a health visitor and school nurse) works closely with the practice and gives advice and monitors the health and development of children.
We offer a full contraceptive service by consultation with any of the doctors or nurses.
Please make an appointment to see the nurse.
We offer immunisation and health advice on foreign travel. If you are planning a trip abroad please inform the surgery as soon as possible in order that a travel assessment can be undertaken by the practice nurse. A travel form needs to be completed and handed back to the surgery prior to your appointment with the practice nurse, who will then assess your vaccination status/requirements. More information is available on the above Travel Vaccinations tab.
If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you will need to complete a travel questionnaire - please ask at reception for a form or click on the link below for a printable version.
Travel Assessment Form
This will include which countries and areas within countries that you are visiting to enable our nursing team to determine what vaccinations are required.
It is important that you complete the questionnaire and bring it with you to your appointment. Your appointment with the nurse needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.
Some travel vaccines are not able to be provided by our nurses. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS. If this is the case we will let you know and give you the details of local private travel clinics.
Travel Clinics within the area:
Boots Giltbrook - 0115 9386050
Cripps Health Centre - 0115 8468888
Regent Street Clinic - 0115 9475498
If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to make an appointment with the practice nurse to discuss your travel arrangements. This will include which countries and areas within countries that you are visiting to determine what vaccinations are required.
There is further information about countries and vaccinations required on the links below
It is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible - at least 6 weeks before you travel - as a second appointment will be required with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations. These vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine. Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.
Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.
Travel Health Questionnaire
To help us offer the appropriate advice, please fill out the online form before coming to see the nurse.
Travelling in Europe
If you are travelling to Europe the EU has published useful information for travellers on the European website.
Some services provided are not covered under our contract with the NHS and therefore attract charges. Examples include the following:
The fees charged are based on the British Medical Association (BMA) suggested scales and our reception staff will be happy to advise you about them along with appointment availability.
Non NHS FEES
Pharmacy first aims to improve patient access to GP appointments by encouraging patients with certain minor ailments to use the pharmacy for treatment rather than making an appointment at the surgery.
Self Help Connect UK is the new national arm of Self Help Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, a unique organisation which helps create, support and promote self help groups.
We have more than 30 years of experience in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire with an enviable reputation for helping people to start and grow self help groups to improve their health and wellbeing. We also bridge the gap between these groups and health and social care professionals.
Building on the successful model we have developed during our 30 years in Nottinghamshire, we were asked by the Department of Health to use our knowledge and expertise to support other areas of the UK. While Self Help Nottingham and Nottinghamshire remains a beacon of best practice, our national arm - Self Help Connect UK - now fulfils contracts in different locations in the UK.
