CALL NHS 111 WHEN THE SURGERY CLOSED, UNLESS IT IS A MEDICAL EMERGENCY



Due to the coronavirus outbreak, how you contact us will be different at the moment. This is to limit face-to-face contact whenever possible and help stop the spread of coronavirus.

We are open and if you need to see a GP, please ring us on 0115 9382101. Our opening hours of 7.30 am to 6.30 pm Monday to Friday.  

You can also call NHS 111. Please do not come to the surgery unless you have an appointment.

If you are waiting for a check-up, please be assured we will be in touch.

Appointments are being delivered face-to-face, online and over the telephone. If you are asked to come into the surgery for a face-to-face appointment, please remember to wear a face covering.  Measures are in place to keep you safe from infection during your visit to the surgery.


Covid-19 - The compulsory wearing of face covering in shops

The introduction of the requirement for people to wear face covering in shops is intended to help prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus.

There are certain groups of people who are exempt fro this requirement and they include:

Children under the age of 11

People with disabilities

those with breathing difficulties or

those who are travelling with someone who relies on lip reading.

These groups of people, their parents or guardians are able to indicate the reason, if required, as to why they are not wearing a face covering.

General practice is under considerable pressure as a direct result of the current challenges they are faced with with delivering a seervice to patients at the same time as coping with the consequences of this virus.

There is no requirement for general practice to issue letters for patients who are unable to wear face coverings, as the Government have clearly defined the exemptions of this requirement.

General practice needs to focus all its time and effort managing those who need their help and not be diverted from this by unnecessary tasks.

KEY MESSAGES FOR THE PUBLIC

General practice staffing has been devastated by the impact of COVID-19, both self-isolation and the need to protect high-risk members of staff.  We will therefore only focus on urgent medical need

It is imperative that you work with us to protect the NHS, not just for unwell patients with COVID-19, but all other urgent conditions et heart attacks, car accidents, cancer care, So please:

1. DO think before ringing any services; use online services first. General practice does not have the capacity to field minor queries for well patients.

2. DO NOT use services unless absolutely necessary.

3. DO NOT request sick notes/reports/holiday cancellation letters.

4. YOU MUST follow self-isolation/social distancing guidance.

5. DO use electronic prescribing service to order NORMAL QUANTITIES of repeat medications. Requests for excessive amounts will not be honoured.

6. DO be patient with all staff - everyone is doing their bit and working flat out.

We know you are anxious, we know these are hard messages.  Thank you for working with us.

Trent Psychological Therapies Service

For those in need of emotional and psychological support at this difficult and challenging time, Trent PTS is continuing to provide a service for all patients registered with a GP in Greater Nottingham or Nottingham South (This service is NHS funded). If you would like psychological support and are aged 18 years or over you can self-refer. Please go to our website to complete a referral and we will be in contact to arrange your first appointment.

As we continued to accept new referrals, we are now offering our services by phone, webcam, using online text-based therapies or through online support packages so as to maintain social distancing.

Patient Participation Group Bowel Screening Awareness raising event - September 2019

PPG members, Bowel Screening

Following on from a morning Carer event held at the Hama Practice in June this year, in which we were hoping to raise awareness about Bowel Cancer Screening, it was suggested that we might try to bring it to the wider community by holding a similar event at Sainsbury's in Kimberley.

This was met with support from the management team at Sainsbury's and on Tuesday 3rd September various orange clad members of the Hama Medical Practice PPG, armed with leaflets and demonstration kits, manned a stand in the entrance to the store.

During the course of the morning, we were able to speak to several hundred people with a wide range of different reactions and opinions, the overwhelming one being that the majority of people between the ages of 60 and 74 are happily using and returning the test kit. They were even happier when they were shown the new, much more user-friendly kit! We were also able to inform people over the of 75 that they were still able to request the test and to give them the information and phone number that they would need. Only a relatively small number were uninterested - for a variety of reasons.

Overall, it was aan extremely successful and informative morning. It confirmed that the message about the importance of such screening is getting out to the public and it identified a large number of people who would still like to be doing the test. Our thanks must go to the staff at Sainsbury's and to all our (mostly) willing participants.
